The yoga chi gung (that I discovered & loved) and the different levels of meditation.
I was delighted to explore our inner peace & guidance, and connect with the others in the group. Claudine (Brisbane)
I found there was something very special in Lynette's Yoga Chi Gung classes. A real peace & balance. Bianca
MORE seniors are practising yoga than 10 to 20 years ago due to greater awareness of the importance of good health.
Seniors are more knowledgeable about the prevention of disease and are aware that yoga and meditation provide a holistic approach to health, focusing on the mind-body connection.
June Ambrose is 88 and said as you age you need to keep healthy and keep the body moving.
"I've been doing yoga chi gung for eight years, it keeps me fit and healthy and it also makes me feel good," June said.
"It's gentle and workable and works on all the body organs, and it's great to feel active at my age."
Joan Staddon has been attending the yoga class for two years and said she had never done it before and did not realise its benefits.
"It's incredible because it's not invasive and it works your inner core, and is good for the mind and body," Joan said. "I do it twice a week and feel fantastic."
Sometimes, having surgery takes a toll on your body but Gail Dillon said regular yoga exercises has helped in her recovery.
"I had an operation in August last year and only started the yoga a few weeks ago.
"The gentle exercises help all over. I had to sit for most of them in the beginning but now I find them so much easier," Gail said.
Everyone in the Yoga Chi Gung class has plenty of praise for Lynette York, their teacher, and said she gives meaning to every move, brings energy and a holistic approach to the class and explains all the exercises and their benefits.
story from the Fraser Coast Chronicle
I have left Hervey Bay and moved to Redcliffe, in 2016. June who is now 93 yrs old is still attending classes with Kath, a student of mine for many years.. Joan is still going strong and many of the other students. It is so lovely to hear from them still and that they are enjoying Kath's classes. I am honoured to have been part of their achievements over many years. Totally wonderful group of ladies.
